The Bayonne Local Redevelopment Authority reviewed final plans in August for the opening of the new entrance to the former Military Ocean Terminal. Although construction of the new street has been completed for months, the intersection was waiting for approval from the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
The new traffic light will be at Goldsborough Drive, which is 700 feet north of the old entrance at Port Terminal Boulevard, but will mean a longer walk for commuters to access the Hudson Bergen Light Rail station from Alexan CityView Apartments and will also increase the distance fire trucks will have to travel to get out of their current temporary station.
Seen here is John Pavlovich, a traffic engineer with Jacobs Engineering, giving an overview of the changes.
